Bottle Green Tussar Silk Saree with Traditional Bindi Batik & Sea Green Border

The bindi is one of the oldest marks we make on ourselves — a point of focus, a centre, a small circle that means: here. Here is where I am. Here is where I begin. In batik, the bindi becomes a motif — repeated, scattered, layered until the whole cloth becomes a kind of meditation. Each dot a small statement. All of them together, a whole world of presence.

This hand-painted batik pure Tussar silk saree in bottle green with traditional bindi batik work and sea green border holds that meditation — worn, it places you, quietly, exactly here.

The traditional bindi batik on this Tussar saree was worked by a batik artist from Bengal’s Bishnupur region, where the bindi motif — that most elemental of marks — has been used in textile art for generations. The bottle green base was achieved through multiple dye passes, the sea green border emerging from a lighter immersion that kept its cooler, brighter tone. The palla carries additional crack and batik highlight work — the wax allowed to crackle freely here, adding texture to the pattern’s precision.

Tussar silk’s natural texture makes bindi batik particularly striking — each dot sits in the weave with a softness that a smoother silk wouldn’t allow, the colour soaking into the grain of the forest silk rather than merely coating it. The result is a saree where pattern and fabric seem to have grown together, inseparable. Draped, it carries both the discipline of the dot and the freedom of the forest — the most grounded and the most alive thing, all at once.
